Marina Sirras Principal Marina Sirras is the Principal of Marina Sirras & Associates LLC, (MS&A) a legal search firm based in New York City that specializes in recruiting for law firms and corporations in the United States and internationally. She has more that 21 years of experience in recruiting attorneys. Marina is an active member of the National Association of Legal Search Consultants (NALSC) and has been a member of the NALSC Board of Directors since 1997. Marina is the former Co-President and current President of NALSC. Marina’s firm consists of eight full-time recruiters and two part-time recruiters. Two MS&A recruiters are dedicated to recruiting for Administrative positions in law firms and corporations. As a first career, Marina was a marketing analyst for The A.C. Nielsen Company’s Food and Consumer Products Division and Warwick & Legler, a New York mid-size advertising agency (now defunct). Later, as a "stay-at-home mom", Marina owned and operated several small businesses and was a great volunteer. In 1986, Marina began her career in legal search at one of the largest New York search firms and in 1987, in partnership with Kai Cramer, formed Cramer & Sirras, Inc. Marina took over full control of the company in 1991 and changed the name to Marina Sirras & Associates. Marina is often called upon to comment on trends in the legal recruitment industry and has been quoted numerous times in legal publications and featured in an article in the ABA Journal (July 2005) Marina has spoken at many conferences including: • NALP Annual Education Conferences: “Ethics and Legal Recruiting” (2005) and “Managing the Legal Search Consultant Relationship” (2006). • At the Association of the Bar of the City of New York – panelist at seminars on “Lawyers in Transition” (2006) and “Transitions: Exploring Non-Legal Roles within Law Firms” (2008) focusing on lawyers seeking administrative positions in law firms. • At the Chief Marketing Officers Forum in NYC, Marina participated on a panel discussion “Attracting Lateral Partners & Groups” on the importance of a good Marketing Department in recruiting lateral partners. Prior to her current position, Jennifer was an Intellectual Property and International Trade paralegal in New York for four years. While at Marina Sirras & Associates LLC, Jennifer has conducted numerous in-house and law firm searches in the United States, Europe and Asia. Jennifer graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in International Relations. She currently resides in Massachusetts. Taylor focuses on the placement of partners and practice groups. Prior to joining Marina Sirras & Associates LLC, Michael was a shareholder in the Dallas office of Winstead PC and had been a partner for more that thirteen years at Sidley Austin LLP and Brown & Wood (later merged with Sidley & Austin LLP) where he worked in the firm's New York office. In 2000, Michael moved to the Firm's San Francisco office where along with practicing law, he served in various administrative capacities including the charge of associate hiring for the office and a member of the Firms Associate Review and Compensation Committee worldwide. Early in his career, Michael was an associate in the Houston law firm of Mayor Day & Caldwell, now a part of Andrews Kurth LLP. In practice, Michael represented companies and their Boards of Directors, investment banks and private funds in public and private offerings of securities. Michael has also acted as general outside counsel to NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ listed companies. Michael is a cum laude graduate from the University of Virginia and from the University of Arkansas School of Law where he was an Editor of the Arkansas Law Review. Laura Gordon Recruiter Laura J. Gordon joined Marina Sirras & Associates in 2007. Before joining MS&A Laura was a Senior Manager in the Reorganization Services Group of Deloitte & Touche LLP and in the Business Restructuring Services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Prior to her consulting experience, Laura was affiliated with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP and Latham & Watkins LLP as a Finance and Restructuring Specialist where she focused on debtor and creditor committee representation, commercial, public and private financings and recapitalizations as well as municipal financings. Laura received her MBA in Finance from the University of Southern California and a BA in Sociology and Economics from the University of California, San Diego. Doris Weil Recruiter Doris joined Marina Sirras & Associates LLC in April, 2005. In December, 2004, Doris left her position as Vice President of Corporate Human Resources for The Interpublic Group, a holding company for advertising agencies and marketing firms. At Interpublic, she worked within both Interpublic itself and McCann-Erickson, the company's largest advertising subsidiary, for more than 25 years. White at Interpublic, Doris chaired the HR Roundtable and represented HR on various committees such as the Diversity Task Force. She was the HR point person relative to the Code of Conduct, the Alertline and the company’s Payroll conversion. Prior to Interpublic, Doris held human resources positions at Estée Lauder and KPMG Peat Marwick. Doris’ focus at Marina Sirras & Associates LLC is the placement of candidates in administrative positions in law firms and corporations. Doris holds an undergraduate degree in history from Queens College and taught in the NYC schools for several years prior to joining the private sector. Doris is fluent in Italian. Prior to her current position, Dana was an associate at Ingram & Aydelotte, Inc., an executive search firm in New York City, for three years. While at Ingram & Aydelotte, Dana recruited senior level executives for various industries, including: pharmaceuticals, cosmetics/HBA, finance, banking, transportation and entertainment. Major clients included Pfizer, Inc., Bristol Meyers-Squibb, Clairol, American Express Company, Citibank, Union Pacific Corporation, Tenneco, Inc., and MTV Networks. While at Marina Sirras & Associates, Dana has worked on searches for senior and junior associates at several media companies. Dana has also conducted searches for partner and associate positions for law firms in the United States, Europe and Asia. Danielle Tampa Recruiter Danielle Tampa joined Marina Sirras & Associates LLC in February of 2009. From 2000 to 2009. Danielle worked in the recruiting department of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP. She was responsible for all aspects of lateral hiring, including associates, counsel, partners and groups. While at Cadwalader, Danielle assisted in the expansion of several key practice areas, including, antitrust, bankruptcy, financial regulation, intellectual property and private equity. Cheryl Morrier Cheryl Morrier joined Marina Sirras & Associates LLC on a full-time basis in June 2005 after spending a year with the firm as a part-time legal recruiter. Currently Cheryl is conducting searches for partner and associate positions for law firms in the United States and Europe. Prior to her current position, Cheryl was a senior recruiter and Director of Client Research for Branthover Associates, an executive search firm in New York City, for six years. While at Branthover Associates, Cheryl conducted and supervised executive search research and recruitment for various industries, including: finance, banking, telecommunications/high tech, managed care/insurance, retail/cosmetics, and entertainment. Cheryl graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and has completed a Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University’s Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies.
